Forspoken was at one point mysteriously identified by the name of Project Athia, but the past few months have offered us more information regarding what we can expect from Forspoken’s upcoming Square Enix fantasy adventure.
Forspoken will be created through Luminous Productions, a studio founded by The Final Fantasy 15 dev team Expect stunning action and a captivating story. Forspoken’s authors comprise Gary Whitta (of Rogue: One A Star Wars story fame) and Amy Hennig, who worked on the Uncharted series. The music for the series is being created by God of War composer Bear McCreary.
Forspoken was announced in June of 2020, but the latest flurry of news has revealed more details about what Forspoken will look like and the date we are likely to see it. Forspoken is scheduled to launch in the spring of 2019 on PS5 and PC, which means you’ll have more time to get acquainted with its main character Frey who is played by British actress Ella Balinska. Frey is transported to the realm of Athia which is where she acquires supernatural powers as she tries to help the inhabitants of the world escape what appears to be the oppressive rule. We know that the main bad guy will be voiced by a well-known actress and Star Wars Battlefront 2 voice-over artist Janina Gavankar. The most recent PlayStation Blog post gives us further details about Forspoken that we’ll discuss in the following paragraphs.
This is what we know about Forspoken.
What is Forspoken?
Forspoken is a role-playing game that centers around an 18-year-old girl named Frey of New York City who is just about to turn 21. Instead of partying at an extravagant bar in the Meatpacking District, Frey is taken into the world that is Athia, “where fantasies and nightmares are suddenly very real” according to the Sony blog article.
Frey will develop new magical skills to aid her in defeating the terrifying monsters in Athia however, to go home, she’ll have to confront the Tantas they are the all-powerful matriarchs that hold Athia in their grip like a vice.
Forspoken PlayStation Showcase Trailer
We were able to take a closer glimpse of Forspoken at the PlayStation showcase on September 2021 There’s plenty to learn from. We get to know more details of Frey Holland (and the adorable kitten) and also how Frey ended up being taken to Athia (through the portal). We discover how Frey’s ability is derived from a set of gold cuffs that can talk to her and also that they can give the amazing magic moves that allow her to make the light job of villains.
We also are aware that Frey will meet with a big baddie, known as Tanta Sila who is played in Star Wars Battlefront 2 by Janina Gavankar.
Release date forspoken
We have so far only an announcement date for Forspoken due to The September 2021 PlayStation showcase. Expect Forspoken on PS5 and PC in Spring 2022. Sony has exclusive rights console version and it’s not being released on either Xbox One or the Nintendo Switch. A video by Sony that showcased Forspoken along with other forthcoming PS5 games has this statement in the small print: “In development for PS5. Also available on PC. Not available on other consoles until at least 24 months after release date.”
Forspoken gameplay details
What we’ve seen thus far of Forspoken suggests that Frey is an especially athletic hero. Frey is able to sprint fast and jump huge distances, traversing canyons by jumping between the spires of rock. When she leaps it is possible to observe grass flowing out of her feet in mid-air, suggesting that her skills are somehow enhanced by the ground below her.
The same concept is evident in battle. The trailer shows her up against three wolf-like foes, with areas of bright orange light or fire flashing through their frail frames. The woman summons roots from ground that swallow one of the three wolves. The idea is that you’ll use nature to tackle issues.
The trailer above features bigger enemies, as well as huge, massive eyes supported by what appears like a huge tree trunk, as well as the massive dragon-like beast. It’s not a guarantee of set piece boss fights however it does suggest the possibility of them.
The truth is out there specifics
“As the first video game I’ve worked on, it’s remarkable to see the incredible world and story of Forspoken come together, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy,” Balinska said. Balinska what she’s seen so far of Forspoken thus far.
“Frey as a character is real, she’s raw, she’s a girl who lost her way – both figuratively and literally – and is a character I immediately connected with, as I feel many people around the world will too when they set off on this adventure.”
Frey is transported into the mysterious but dangerous realm of Athia in which she has to be able to harness her newfound magic powers to take on monsters and the Tantas who have control over the Asia land. The power of Frey comes in the magic of her “Cuff” a magical bracelet that speaks to Frey (and can be vocalized in the voice of Jonathan Cake). Frey must take on the Tantas by using the Cuff in order to have a an opportunity of return in New York City – and her cat.
The team that is writing the story is headed by Gary Whitta, who has written for, among others, games. Prey as well as The Forspoken writing team is comprised of all over “the worlds of film, tv, games, and fantasy literature” the writer stated on Twitter.

Forspoken – For PlayStation 5 And PC Continues To Impress In Latest Trailer
After the announcement of the details of what Project Athia actually was back in March, Forspoken was shown off at the most recent PlayStation Showcase and there’s a lot to be thrilled about.
The promotion is more focused on the story aspect and those who write and music, nothing is really engaging, if you ask me honestly.
The actors appear decent and give impressive performances in the brand new trailer (shown below) however, the dialogue is unnatural and awkward in front of what appears to be an incredibly complex and interesting game.
That’s what’s important here, Forspoken looks like it has a lot to provide in the realm of gameplay and, while much of the budget seems to have been devoted to display dressing using ersatz Hollywood talent however, the game itself is the main attraction here.
In the end, we are aware that the place Frey Holland’s protagonist Frey Holland finds herself is known as Athia and her abilities permit her to accomplish incredible things.
In the meantime, I’m experiencing an intense Soukaigi feelings from the game, but not in a more practical sense, since that was a rather small PlayStation game at the time.
While Forspoken appears to can let you zoom over the world with unique attacks that are delivered in a highly agile manner.
In short, I can’t wait to experience it when it’s available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 and PC next year.
